Cowl Sizing Guide
I wanted to create a document with photos to talk about the different options for accessories. Over time I’ve offered tons of different sizes of cowls and wanted to put them together with photos and descriptions that are easily findable.
Pricing for cowls and shawls is at the same per-metre price as wraps. For example, a 0.8m cowl will be charged at 80% of the per-metre rate of the fabric you’re ordering. A 12” tall mini cowl will be charged at the pro-rated per-inch price of the base fabric. At this time I am not charging additional sewing fees, but all pieces are sewn by me.
Mini Cowls
Mini cowls are 10”–22” (0.3m–0.6m) tall and are joined at the selvedges. The circumference will vary depending on warp width and draw-in based on weft and weave pattern, but generally will be 26”–30” around. These cowls can be either hemmed on top and bottom or can be left with fringe. Tiny fringe (under 1”) is no additional cost and is not hemstitched but sewn to secure. Longer fringe would be charged at the normal finishing price for fringe.
Full Size Cowls
Full size cowls are constructed by joining the raw edges of the fabric. The length in this case indicates the circumference of the cowl, and the height will always be wrap width — which can vary based on draw-in and weft choice. Full size cowls range from 0.75m–1.6m (can be double-looped) and have selvedges top and bottom of the cowl.
Hybrid Cowls
Hybrid cowls are constructed by hemming one or both edges and then joining at selvedges or hems. Sizing is flexible — let me know what shape you’re after and I’ll quote it.
Scarves and Shawls
Scarves and shawls are open at both ends with finished selvedges. Length and width are customizable. Pricing matches the per-metre rate of the fabric you choose.
